buy new or upgrade?

I unbox the Core One Plus, then fit the official upgrade kit to my original Core One to see what changed and who might benefit.

THE QUESTION

Is this a new printer—or a useful refinement?

The Core One Plus keeps the original platform. So I look at both options: what it is like to unbox the Plus, and whether an existing Core One can be brought up to date with Prusa’s official kit.

WHAT CHANGED

Small updates aimed at daily use.

The video covers the automatic top vent, updated filament path and sensor, a revised spool-holder mount and firmware refinements. I install the upgrade hardware, update firmware, calibrate the machine and run a test print.

MY TAKEAWAY

Buy the Plus new; consider the kit if you own a Core One.

My verdict is that the Plus is the version I’d choose when buying new. For an existing Core One owner, the upgrade can make sense if longevity and keeping a supported machine matter more than chasing a complete redesign. These are refinements, not a new chassis.
