THE QUESTION
What changes when the machine is in your own hands?
Desktop UV printers are often compared by resolution, colour count and print area. For this hands-on review, I wanted to go through setup, calibration and first use without Morpho’s engineers standing beside me.
WHAT I TESTED
From setup to print-head maintenance.
The video covers the CMYK, white and varnish inks, automatic calibration and camera-assisted artwork alignment. I try printing on an iPhone and MacBook, a small metal coin with raised relief, ceramic and 3D-printed parts, including the printer’s textured-print options.
On the beta unit, a faulty wiper module partially blocked the white-ink channels. I replace the module and show the print-head inspection and cleaning, alongside my feedback on the still-developing software.
MY TAKEAWAY
Promising hardware still needs everyday testing.
The hardware impressed me, while the beta software needed better selection and editing tools and clearer basic and advanced modes. The video shows what worked, what needed attention and why it is useful to research a crowdfunded product from more than one source.
