Anker SOLIX S2000:
can it power a maker studio?

I take a portable power station off the mains and put it to work with the equipment in my studio—then see what solar input adds to the picture.

THE QUESTION

Can battery power run real workshop equipment?

Switching a printer on for a few minutes doesn’t tell you much. I wanted to test sustained use: a Morpho UV printer, a Prusa CORE One INDX 3D printer, and a four-hour, four-colour print while the S2000 was running without mains power.

WHAT I TESTED

Printing, solar and the numbers behind them.

  • Starting and running a UV printer and a 3D printer off-grid.
  • A four-hour print during which the displayed battery level moved from 100% to 85%.
  • An Anker PS400 solar panel, including how sun, shade and time of day affect input.
  • Power monitoring, standby consumption and the difference between an estimate and a full discharge test.

MY TAKEAWAY

Test the setup you actually plan to use.

The video shows why battery percentage and a single wattage figure don’t tell the whole story. Runtime depends on the equipment, AC conversion and operating conditions; solar output also changes with sunlight and positioning. The review explains its estimates rather than presenting them as a full battery run-down.
